We enjoy having ice for drinks when we are RVing. We looked at a few of these countertop ice machines and chose the Magic Chef model MCIM22ST. It comes in stainless, red, black or white. The price does vary depending on the color you choose. To be honest most of these portable ice machines look like they are all made in the same factory with different brand names stuck on them. Ours works well after some heavy use.
One major reason we chose the Magic Chef was the drain plug is on the bottom hidden away. Other brands had it on the side which stuck out quite a bit. Also, the machine is just over 9 inches wide compared to others that are 12 or more inches wide.
The controls are like most other brands. An on/off button with a power light, an add water light, and a select button that lets you choose small or large ice cubes.
Ours makes ice in about 7 minutes per cycle which is 9 small cubes. Magic Chef claims about 27 lbs. of ice in a 24 hour period.
This machine works well and we use it a lot. It continues to make ice as fast as it did the day we bought it. The dimensions are 14.1 x 9.5 x 12.9 inches and it weighs 17.8 lbs.
